This paper deals with the design and optimization of a kind of switching controller, whose switching law is determined by states. A switching controller was designed based on linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), and the switching law was optimized by genetic algorithm. The proposed controller not only can stabilize the closed-loop system, but also give a promising dynamical performance. The proposed approach was applied to control an inverted pendulum, and the simulation result showed its availability.
